Creighton’s Chatman needs surgery
OMAHA, NE (TheSpread) – Creighton point guard Austin Chatman is going to need surgery in the upcoming weeks, but is hopeful to be ready for the start of the season.
Chatman reportedly needs surgery to repair a ligament in his right thumb that will put him in a cast for two months. The timetable for the recovery has Chatman back for the start of the season.
Chatman averaged 8.1 points, 4.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game last season as he helped lead Creighton to the NCAA Tournament. Chatman is the lone returning starter coming back next season for the Bluejays.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Creighton has been given 300/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament next season. Oddsmakers see Kentucky as the favorite with 9/2 odds while Duke has 10/1 odds.
