Drake Bulldogs Notes
Tucker DeVries produced 22 points (8-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds and one steal in 32 minutes during Sunday’s 77-51 victory over Bradley. DeVries has been the leading scorer for Drake this season at 19.0 ppg and has also managed to improve upon that in the postseason, posting games of 27, 12 and 22 games (20.3 ppg) through three outings in the MVC Tournament. The son of head coach Darrian DeVries, Tucker is the only underclassmen in an experienced Drake starting lineup and will be the driving factor if the team is able to pull a first-round upset.
Miami Hurricanes Notes
Norchad Omier (ankle) will be available Friday if he suffers no setback with his injury before Miami’s game against Drake, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. Omier has been able to practice on back-to-back days now. According to Miami’s head coach Jim Larranaga, Omier will play on Friday “if his ankle doesn’t swell overnight” before the Drake-Miami game. Omier’s presence will be crucial to prevent a first-round upset and advancement into the 2023 NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32.
