Drake Bulldogs

The Bulldogs upset the Missouri Tigers in the first round of the tournament 67-57 on Thursday night. Bennett Stirtz led the team with 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the field and 3 of 3 from behind the arc. Tavion Banks tacked on 15 points and 9 rebounds off of the bench. Drake forced 17 turnovers on the night but also gave the ball away 15 times. Also a big issue for Drake was their free throw shooting, making just 12 of their 24 attempts.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Red Raiders opened up tournament play with a 82-72 victory over UNC Wilmington. Kerwin Walton led the team with 27 points after shooting 8 of 19 from three. Elijah Hawkins nearly pulled off a triple double, finishing with 14 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. JT Toppin finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Texas Tech was 39% from the field, 28% from three, and 65% from the free throw line.

Drake is 3-3 ATS in their last 6 games

The UNDER is 4-0 in Drake’s last 4 games

Texas Tech is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games

The OVER is 5-1 in Texas Tech’s last 6 games

Drake vs. Texas Tech Prediction:

I’m going to roll with another first half under in this matchup between Drake and Texas Tech. The Bulldogs operate as the slowest team in the entire country. They rank 285th in points per game and rank 22nd in defensive efficiency. Texas Tech isn’t too far behind, ranking 49th in defensive efficiency. The Bulldogs opening matchup against Missouri featured just 53 points. These teams are very similar in comparison to the Saint Mary’s vs Vanderbilt matchup, which finished at 51 points in the first half. Taking the first half eliminates any chance that late game fouls and free throws or overtime pushes this game over the number.

Drake vs. Texas Tech Prediction: 1st Half Under 59.5
