The over/under total for the contest is listed at 154.5 points. Tonight’s game is taking place from Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida and will air live on ESPN.
Duke has won its last two and four of its last five coming into tonight’s game. The Blue Devils are 15-2 overall, 3-2 in the ACC and 10-5 against the spread. Duke puts up an impressive 93.2 points per game this year while allowing 73.8 per contest. Marvin Bagley III is averaging 22.5 points and 11.7 rebounds per game to lead Duke this season while Grayson Allen is adding 15.6 points and 4.5 assists per game.
Miami is coming off a 72-63 loss at Clemson for its second loss in three games. The Hurricanes are 13-3 overall, 2-2 in the ACC and 7-4 against the spread. The Canes are just 2-4 against the spread in their last six. Miami is averaging 73.1 points per game on offense while allowing 60.7 per game on defense. Dewan Huell is leading Miami with 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while Bruce Brown Jr. is adding 11.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.
Miami has won three of the last four meetings with Duke, covering the spread in all three wins. The Canes are actually 6-2 against the spread in their last eight against the Blue Devils. Duke has had its setbacks on the road this year, losing to N.C. State and Boston College. Miami is 6-0 at home this year and the Canes can’t afford a loss. I expect their defensive effort to be at its best. The Canes are allowing just 58.7 per game at home. With Duke’s struggles in previous conference road games, I am taking my chances on Miami despite the spread being somewhat small. The public betting disagrees and is going with Duke.
