Florida Gators Game Notes
Gators guard Walter Clayton Jr. was terrific in his team’s 89-59 blowout win over Georgia last Saturday. The 6’3” senior posted 17 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in 31 minutes. Clayton shot 7 of 12 from the field and 2 of 2 from the foul line in the victory.
Florida guard Will Richard also played well in his team’s game on Saturday. In that contest, the senior from Fairburn, GA recorded 16 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and 4 made three-pointers. Richard is third on the team in scoring with 13.6 points per game this season.
Tennessee Volunteers Game Notes
Volunteers guard Zakai Zeigler is questionable to play against the Gators this weekend. He’s dealing with a knee injury that kept him out of practice on Thursday. Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes expressed optimism about Zeigler’s status saying, “My gut feel is, knowing him, that he’ll be ready to play.”
Zeigler is one of the Volunteers’ most important players and is averaging 12.3 points, 7.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game this season. If Zeigler is unable to play, Tennessee will likely allot more minutes to senior guard Jordan Gainey and freshman guard Bishop Boswell.
Florida vs. Tennessee CBB Betting Trends
Florida is 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games against Tennessee.
The Gators are 17-19 ATS as the road team since the start of the 2021 season.
Tennessee is 18-9-1 ATS as the home team since the start of last season.
Tennessee is 6-0 ATS when playing with the rest disadvantage since the beginning of last season.
Florida vs. Tennessee CBB Prediction:
Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler is officially listed as questionable for Saturday’s contest due to a knee injury he suffered on Tuesday night against Kentucky. Zeigler was able to play the entire second half of that contest after getting injured, and despite the questionable tag, it appears he’ll be good to go against the Gators on Saturday. He had 10 points in 36 minutes of action the last time these two teams played, on January 7th of this year.
The Volunteers have had great success against the Gators of late. Tennessee is 7-3 straight up and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 matchups with Florida. Perhaps most importantly, the Vols are 6-0 straight up and 5-1 ATS in their last six games against the Gators away from Gainesville. In a contrarian play, I’m laying the points with Tennessee at home in Knoxville on Saturday afternoon.
