Aaron and Andrew Harrison declared on Friday that they will return to Kentucky for their sophomore seasons. The twins made their announcement via Twitter after Yahoo! Sports reported the news through a source earlier in the day. Andrew wrote “ONE MORE YEAR #BBN #strivefor9” on his personal Twitter account, while Aaron said, “Glad to say that I will be back at UK for my sophomore year. #BBN” on his.
“They wanted to stay in school,” their father, Aaron Harrison, told ESPN by phone. “They wanted to explore their options and see what’s out there. They probably made up their minds last week. All the information they got from the draft was that they were middle to late first round. They had to weigh going back to school and improving and maturing. All the things added up to that.”
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Wildcats are currently favored to win the 2015 NCAA championship at 4/1. Duke has the next-best odds at 8/1, while Florida, Kansas and Wisconsin are all 12/1, respectively, and Arizona and North Carolina are both 17/1, respectively. Wichita State, SMU and Louisville are all 22/1, respectively.
The twins were paramount to Kentucky’s success in 2014. Aaron hit late-game 3-pointers to beat Michigan and Wisconsin and during the regular season, averaged 13.7 points per game. Andrew, meanwhile, averaged 10.9 points per game as Kentucky eventually went on to find its rhythm in the March Madness tournament.
