Houston Game Notes
Houston’s leading scorer and best player is senior guard Marcus Sasser. Sasser was instrumental in Houston’s 83-48 blowout win over Texas Southern on Wednesday, pouring in a game-high 20 points on 6-13 shooting. For the season, Marcus Sasser is averaging 16.8 points per game, 3.8 assists per game, and 2.3 steals per game. Sasser’s play will go a long way toward deciding the outcome of this game.
Houston’s leading rebounder is freshman forward Jarace Walker. The 6’8” Pennsylvania native leads the club with 7.3 rebounds per game and ranks second on the Cougars in scoring with 13 points per game. Walker has been making 51.2% of his shot attempts from the field and he’ll likely need to get some easy buckets for Houston to cover the number on Sunday.
Oregon Game Notes
Oregon is led by senior center N’Faly Dante. The 6’11” Mali native had been dealing with a hip pointer, but he is probable to play Sunday. This is good for the Ducks because Dante leads them in scoring with 14.3 points per game and rebounding with 8.3 boards per game. N’Faly Dante only shot 7-16 in Oregon’s loss to UC Irvine, and he’ll likely have to shoot over 50% from the field for Oregon to cover on Sunday.
The Ducks’ leading assist man is senior guard Will Richardson. Richardson leads the team with 4.7 dimes per game and ranks fifth on the team in scoring at 9 points per game. Will Richardson recorded a season-high 6 assists in Oregon’s 81-51 win over Montana State on Tuesday, and he’ll likely have to dish out at least that many assists for Oregon to have a shot at covering this contest against Houston.

Houston vs. Oregon CBB Prediction:
Houston is one of the best teams in the country. They are third in adjusted efficiency margin out of 363 teams on Kenpom.com, they’re second in the country in average scoring margin, and they’re one of only 8 teams that are 4-0 ATS this season. Oregon struggled at times last year and they may be down again this year as they lost by 13 points to UC Irvine already this season. Because of that, I’ll lay the points with the Cougars.
