Indiana Game Notes
Indiana guard Xavier Johnson remains out with a foot injury. Johnson was averaging 9.9 points and 4.9 assists per game in 25.1 minutes per contest for the Hoosiers this year.
Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis has been the second-best player (behind Purdue’s Zach Edey) in the Big Ten this season. Jackson-Davis is second in the Big Ten in scoring with 20.5 points per game and second in the conference in rebounding with 11.1 per game. Trayce Jackson-Davis actually leads the Big Ten in blocks with 2.9 per game. The latter number is impressive for a 6’9” forward.
Purdue Game Notes
Boilermakers guard Fletcher Loyer would like to get back on track. The freshman from Fort Wayne, IN is only putting up 8.6 points per game in Purdue’s last 5 contests. The Boilers have gone 2-3 in that span. They’ll need more from their guards to cover against Indiana Saturday.
Purdue’s Zach Edey is the best player in the Big Ten and one of the best players in the country. The 7’4” Toronto native is seventh in the country in scoring (22.1 points per game), tied for first in rebounding (12.7 boards per game), and ranks tenth in the nation in blocks (2.4 per game). The Boilermakers’ offense runs through Zach Edey and how he fares against Indiana will go a long way toward deciding this game.

Indiana vs. Purdue CBB Prediction:
Since losing three games in a row in early January, the Indiana Hoosiers have been on a hot streak. Since the Hoosiers’ 85-66 loss to Penn State on January 11th, Indiana has gone 9-3 with ranked wins over Wisconsin, Purdue, and Rutgers during that span.
Purdue has hit a rough patch of late. The Boilermakers have lost 3 of their last 5 games as their young guards have struggled to make plays when Zach Edey has been getting double-teamed. This is a game that Purdue has to have, but I think that may ultimately work against them. Indiana will be able to play free and loose on Saturday night, as they’ve already beaten the Boilermakers and have likely secured their spot in the NCAA Tournament. Purdue needs to keep winning if they want to secure a coveted #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. I think the Boilers feel the pressure and aren’t able to win this game convincingly. I’ll take the Hoosiers and the points on the road.
