Indiana Game Notes
Indiana is coming off of a huge 77-65 home win over North Carolina on Wednesday. In that contest, senior forward Trayce Jackson-Davis led all scorers with 21 points and led the Hoosiers in rebounding with 10 boards. Jackson-Davis is Indiana’s leading scorer and rebounder on the season and is shooting an astonishing 71.2% from the field through 6 games this season.
Indiana’s best guard is senior Xavier Johnson. Johnson transferred from Pittsburgh after the 2021 season and this is his second year in Bloomington. He is second on the Hoosiers in scoring at 12.3 points per game and leads the club in assists per game (4.7), as well as three-point field goal percentage (53.3%). Indiana will likely need significant contributions from both Trayce Jackson-Davis and Xavier Johnson to topple Rutgers in this road contest.
Rutgers Game Notes
The Scarlet Knights’ leading scorer and rebounder is 6’11” senior center Clifford Omoruyi. Omoruyi is averaging 16.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. He also leads Rutgers in blocked shots with 1.7 per game. Clifford Omoruyi has posted three double-doubles through 7 games and he’s shooting an efficient 52.7% from the field on 13 shot attempts per game.
The Scarlet Knights’ best guard is 6’4” senior Cam Spencer, who transferred to Rutgers after three seasons at Loyola Maryland. Spencer is second on the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game and he’s leading the club in three-point shooting percentage, knocking down 43.2% of his shots from beyond the arc. Rutgers will need Clifford Omoruyi and Cam Spencer to play well to hand Indiana their first loss of the season and/or cover this game.

Indiana vs. Rutgers CBB Prediction:
Indiana has been one of the best teams in the country in the early part of the college basketball season. They lead the nation in offensive efficiency (1.190), rank sixth in points scored per game (87.1), and rank second in average scoring margin per game (+27). The Hoosiers are coming off a dominant double-digit win over a good North Carolina team, and they appear to have arrived as true contenders for not just the Big Ten title, but the national title as well. The spread seems a bit low to me, which is why I’ll lay the points with the Hoosiers on the road.
