Hawkeyes ease past Orange
Iowa picked up a 68-54 win Tuesday night at Syracuse to improve to 6-2 overall and 1-0 on the road. The Hawkeyes outscored the Orange 38-25 in the second half to pull away. Luka Garza paced Iowa with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting including 1-of-1 from 3-point range plus 4-of-5 at the free throw line. He also accounted for nine rebounds and two assists. Jordan Bohannon contributed 17 points in 37 minutes of action. Joe Wieskamp added 13 points plus nine boards, four dimes and three steals.
Wolverines suffer first loss
Michigan fell by a score of 58-43 Tuesday night at No. 1 Louisville to drop to 7-1 overall and 0-1 on the road. The Wolverines trailed 28-18 at halftime on their way to the defeat. Jon Teske led U-M with 18 points on 6-of-18 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point distance plus 5-of-8 at the free throw line. He also pulled down 10 rebounds. Zavier Simpson added nine points and three assists.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Iowa
The Hawkeyes are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as an underdog. Iowa is 15-31-1 ATS in its last 47 road games.
Michigan
The Wolverines are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. Michigan is 19-7-1 ATS in its last 27 games as a favorite of between 7.0-12.5 points.
Prediction:
The Wolverines were in a tough spot Tuesday night coming back from a couple huge wins in the Bahamas to play a true road game at top-ranked Louisville. It was not a big shock that U-M fell flat under the circumstances. After winning the Battle 4 Atlantis, the Wolverines will be surprising no one any longer and they face the sixth-ranked offense in the nation tonight in terms of adjusted efficiency. Michigan has the ninth-ranked defense, but I do feel the spread might be a bit too wide here. The Hawkeyes proved it could take down a decent team on the road earlier this week and I think they can at the very least stay in this contest for the duration.
