Iowa State vs. Texas Pick
Will Texas get to the .500 mark in the Big 12 and cruise to a big win over Iowa State when the two teams meet tonight at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Texas is the favorite at home, as the Longhorns are getting odds of -7 points against Iowa State. The over/under total for the game is listed at 137 points. Today’s game takes place from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas and will air live on ESPNU.
Iowa State is coming off a surprising thrashing of Texas Tech, 70-52, this past weekend. The Cyclones are 11-7 overall, 2-5 in the Big 12 and 6-9-1 against the spread. ISU is averaging 75.5 points per game this season while allowing 73.3 per contest. Lindell Washington is averaging 16.3 points per game to lead ISU this season while Donovan Jackson is adding 16.1 per contest.
Texas is coming off an 86-51 loss at West Virginia this past weekend for its worst loss in Big 12 play. The Longhorns are now 12-7 overall, 3-4 in the Big 12 and 7-8 against the spread. Texas is putting up 71.9 points per game on offense while allowing 66.5 on defense. Dylan Osetkowski is leading Texas with 14.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while Mohamed Bamba is adding 11.8 points, 10.6 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per contest.
Texas has won two straight meetings with Iowa State, covering the spread in the last three meetings as well. Iowa State looked great against Texas Tech this weekend, but the Cyclones have lost their last three on the road, including a 23-point loss at TCU. I think Iowa State will have an emotional letdown on the road after the big home win while Texas should be whipped into shape after an embarrassing performance at WVU. The public betting is nearly split for this one, but I will take Texas minus the points.
