Kentucky gives Calipari a new deal
LEXINGTON, KY (TheSpread) – The Kentucky Wildcats have secured coach John Calipari for the near future, inking the coach to a new seven-year deal on Thursday.
Kentucky University announced the new deal, which will be worth $52.5 million guaranteed over the next seven seasons.
Calipari led Kentucky to a national championship in 2012 and then took this year’s team, which was dominated by freshmen, to the National Championship Game where it lost to Connecticut.
Next year’s Kentucky team will feature another recruiting class that is ranked among the best in the country to go along with returning sophomores Aaron Harrison and Andrew Harrison, as well as junior center Willie Cauley-Stein.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Wildcats are the favorites to win next season’s NCAA Tournament. Oddsmakers see Kentucky as the favorite with 5/1 odds. Duke is the next favorite at 10/1.
