Wildcats get past Bulldogs
Kentucky secured an 80-72 home victory over Mississippi State Tuesday night to improve to 17-5 overall and 7-2 in Southeastern Conference play. The Wildcats led 31-23 at halftime on their way to the win. Nick Richards paced Kentucky with 27 points on 7-o-10 shooting plus 13-of-15 at the free throw line. He also ripped down 11 rebounds. Immanuel Quickley contributed 21 points and four boards. E.J. Montgomery added 12 points, eight caroms and three steals.
Vols snap three-game skid
Tennessee downed host Alabama Tuesday night as it rallied back from a 15-point deficit to win 69-68. The Volunteers (13-9, 5-4) outscored the Crimson Tide 37-28 in the second half of the win. John Fulkerson paced Tennessee with 22 points on 8-of-9 from the floor plus 6-of-8 at the charity stripe. He also tallied three rebounds and three blocked shots. Jordan Bowden accounted for 20 points, seven boards, six steals and two assists. Yves Pons added 14 points, 14 caroms and three blocks.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Kentucky
The Wildcats are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite. Kentucky is 2-6 ATS in its last eight games following an ATS win.
Tennessee
The Volunteers are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. Tennessee is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games following an ATS win.
Prediction:
Kentucky does not have a lot of impressive wins this season despite its record and will run into a hostile environment today against a Tennessee squad that could use a big win for its resume. The Volunteers blasted the Wildcats at home last season by 19 points, so while they don’t have quite the squad this season there is some recent history with Kentucky struggling in this arena. I’m taking a shot on the home team to pull off the minor upset.
