Florida vs. Texas Tech Prediction

Will the Florida Gators pull off a small upset Saturday night when they take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the second round of the March Madness tournament?

Game Snapshot

(533) Florida Gators vs. (534) Texas Tech Red Raiders

Saturday, March 17, 2018

TV: TNT, 8:40 p.m. ET

CURRENT ODDS

According to oddsmakers from online sports book YouWager, the Red Raiders are 1.5-point favorites to knock off the Gators in tonight’s matchup. As for the total, the number sits at 134.5 points.

LINE MOVEMENT

The Red Raiders opened as 1-point favorites but the line has moved slightly to 1.5 at the majority of online sportsbooks. As for the total, it opened at 133 but has been bet up to 134.5 online.

PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION

As of Saturday morning, 51% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Red Raiders to cover the point spread. Meanwhile, 69% of the betting tickets are on the over.

KEY INJURIES

Texas Tech does not have any players listed on its injury report but that’s not the case for Florida. John Egbunu (knee), Isaiah Stokes (knee) and Chase Johnson (concussion) are all out for the Gators, although Mike Okauru (head) is probable.

BETTING STRATEGY

Since 2006, no team has reached the Elite 8 more often than Florida. So history is on the side of the Gators to at least advance to the Sweet 16. The betting trends are also in Florida’s favor. The Gators are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against the Big 12, are 4-1 against the number in their last five games overall, and are 3-1-1 at the betting window in their last five NCAA tournament games as well.

The betting trends have not been as kind to the Red Raiders, who have been a bad bet of late. They’re winless at 0-7-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall, are 1-5 against the number in their last six matchups with SEC opponents, and are winless ATS in their last four NCAA tournament games. I like the upset here.
