Maryland jumps four spots in poll
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The latest Top 25 basketball poll is out and Maryland is flirting with being a top-10 team. Are the Terrapins a real contender this year?
On Monday, the USA Today Top 25 Basketball poll had the Terrapins jumping from No. 15 all the way to No. 11 following a week that saw it pick up a 72-56 victory over Oakland University to improve to 12-1 on the year.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Maryland currently has 100/1 odds to win the 2015 Final Four. Kentucky remains the favorite with even 1/1 odds, while Duke has 15/2 odds currently.
Maryland is 12-1 on the season, 9-1 at home, 1-0 on the road and 4-5-1 against the spread. The Terrapins own wins over Oklahoma State, Iowa State and Arizona State this season, while their lone loss is to Virginia. The Terps are making their debut in the Big Ten this season and they open conference play on Tuesday against Michigan State on the road. That game should really show if Maryland will be a legit contender this year.
