MSU dismisses Kaminski
EAST LANSING, MI (TheSpread) – Michigan State made the decision to dismiss Kenny Kaminski from the team over the past few days, making their roster even thinner.
Tom Izzo announced the decision on Monday, a day after Kaminski took to Twitter to say he was transferring from the school. Izzo quickly stated that Kaminski wasn’t transferring, instead he was dismissed.
“Despite multiple opportunities, Kenny Kaminski could not live up to the obligations necessary to be a part of our program,” Izzo said in a statement. “Being a Spartan is a special opportunity, and at Michigan State we do everything we can to provide an amazing experience for our student-athlete. With that privilege also comes a responsibility to conduct oneself in a certain manner. After he repeatedly failed to meet the necessary obligations, it became apparent that it was time to dismiss Kenny from this program.”
Kaminski wasn’t a huge contributor last season, averaging 4.9 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in 12.2 minutes a game. However, the freshman made an impressive 49.4 percent of his 3-point opportunities, which led the Big Ten. Kaminski was expected to have a bigger role with the team this season with the Spartans losing so many players from last season.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Michigan State has been given 33/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament next season. Oddsmakers see Kentucky as the favorite with 9/2 odds while Arizona now comes in with 9/1 odds.
