MSU loses Byrd to NAIA school
EAST LANSING, MI (TheSpread) – The Michigan State Spartans will have another piece gone from last season’s team heading into next winter.
It was announced on Wednesday that guard Russell Byrd is transferring from Michigan State to an NAIA school in Los Angeles, the Master’s College. Byrd wasn’t a huge contributor, averaging just 1.4 points per game in three seasons.
Despite Byrd not having done much, his role was expected to increase, especially as a senior leader. MSU is already dealing with the loss of Gary Harris, Adreian Payne and Keith Appling. Those were three of MSU’s top four scorers from last season.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Michigan State has 25/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament in 2015. Oddsmakers see Kentucky as the favorite to win it all next season, with 5/1 odds. Duke is the next favorite at 10/1.
