Mississippi State vs. Tennessee Public Betting: Bettors Taking Points

Our CBB Public Betting Information page indicates that 63% of public bettors are currently backing Tennessee when it comes to the spread. This information is subject to change throughout the day, however, so be sure to check the link so you’re receiving the most up-to-date public betting data.

Kugel listed as probable for Bulldogs

Riley Kugel (undisclosed) is listed as probable for Mississippi State’s clash with Tennessee. The guard has dealt with an ankle injury recently, one that forced him to miss the Bulldogs’ Jan. 14 matchup with Auburn. Kugel still figures to play, given the probable designation, but he’s now technically in danger of missing his second game this season. The junior averages 10.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

Gainey struggles with shooting stroke

Jordan Gainey supplied five points (1-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), one rebound, three assists and one steal over 33 minutes during Saturday’s 76-75 loss to Vanderbilt. Gainey has been a great option off the bench for head coach Rick Barnes’ squad this season, but he’s in a bit of a shooting slump of sorts: over the past six games, he’s shooting 30.4 percent from the field as opposed to the stellar 49.5 percent he shot from the field prior to that. Still, the guard will continue to get plenty of run with the Volunteers as SEC play really heats up.

Mississippi State vs. Tennessee CBB Prediction:

Take Mississippi State. These two teams played twice last season and the Bulldogs took both games. They won 77-72 as a 2-point home dog and 73-56 as a 9.5-point dog in Knoxville. While the Vols have won seven out of the previous 10 meetings between these two teams, the Bulldogs have had their number of late. While they may not win outright, I do see Miss State hanging as an underdog.

Mississippi State vs. Tennessee Hoops Prediction: MISS STATE BULLDOGS +7.5
