N.C. State rolls past Pitt

N.C. State is the No. 5 seed in this tournament after going 10-10 in the ACC this season. The Wolfpack picked up a 73-58 win over Pittsburgh yesterday in their opening game. They have won three of their last four entering today. N.C. State is 20-12 on the season, 1-1 on a neutral floor, 15-17 against the spread and 19-13 with the under.

The Wolfpack are putting up 74.7 points per game on offense this season while shooting 45.1 percent from the field. On defense, N.C. State is giving up 70.1 points per game while opponents are held to 42.9 percent shooting. C.J. Bryce is leading the team with 13.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Markell Johnson is adding 12.8 points and 6.8 assists per contest.

Duke the No. 4 seed

Duke is the No. 4 seed this weekend after going 15-5 in the ACC this year. The Blue Devils are coming off wins over the Wolfpack and North Carolina at home, both by double digits. Duke is now 25-6 on the season, 3-0 on a neutral floor, 16-15 against the spread and 22-9 with the over.

The Blue Devils have the nation’s second-ranked offense, as they average 82.5 points per game while shooting 47 percent as a team. Defensively, Duke is allowing 68 points per game while holding opponents to 41.7 percent shooting. Vernon Carey Jr. is leading Duke with 17.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Tre Jones is adding 16.2 points, 6.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds per contest.

College Basketball Betting Trends

N.C. State

The Wolfpack are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games as an underdog and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a win.

Duke

The Blue Devils are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven on a neutral floor and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following a cover.

Prediction:

These two split the season series, with the home team winning by a large margin in each case. N.C. State has actually been quite a problem for Duke in recent years. The Wolfpack are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven meetings. N.C. State looked good yesterday and I think the Wolfpack have the offensive ability to compete with Duke today. The Blue Devils are still a pretty young team and many are in this tournament for the first time. They are a little streaky and unpredictable, which gives me caution for today’s game with such a large spread. If N.C. State can start off well, I think the Wolfpack will cover.

ACC Tournament Prediction: N.C. State +8
