Purdue vs. Wisconsin Pick
Are the home underdog Wisconsin Badgers worth placing a bet on tonight when they host the No. 6 Purdue Boilermakers at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Purdue is a 9.5-point favorite on the spread line. The total is set at 138 points.
As of Thursday afternoon, public bets are pouring in on Purdue as it is receiving 78 percent of wagers to cover the spread. Online wager info also shows that 57 percent of bets are being placed on the under.
The Boilermakers have had a phenomenal season as they come in with a 23-4 record, but dropped to third in the Big Ten Standings following close losses at home to No. 14 Ohio State and at No. 4 Michigan State. But even the game before that, there was a sign something wasn’t quite right for Purdue as it only won 78-76 at Rutgers. Tonight’s matchup at Wisconsin isn’t nearly as tough as it has been in past years with the Badgers struggling mightily to the tune of an 11-16 straight up and 11-15-1 ATS. But Wisconsin can never be counted out when playing at home, especially as an underdog of nearly double digits.
The last three meetings in this series have all been at Purdue, with the Boilermakers covering each time. Purdue also covered the last time the two squads met in Wisconsin with a 61-55 win on Dec. 29, 2015. OVerall, the Boilermakers are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings while the under has gone 6-4. One time, back in 2013, did Purdue manage to win by double digits at Wisconsin as it secured a 69-56 win that day.
While the Badgers are going through a lost season, I suspect they’ll be up for this game against a Purdue team that has looked vulnerable of late. The spread is just high enough for me to have a lot of interest in betting on Wisconsin.
