Wednesday’s Big East Predictions
The Big East features some big games on Wednesday night. What are the top betting plays in the conference? Here’s our Big East Predictions.
No. 4 Xavier at Georgetown, 6:30PM ET
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Xavier is favored on the road tonight, as the Musketeers are getting odds of -6.5 points against the Hoyas. Xavier is coming off its first loss in weeks, getting beaten by 16 against Villanova at home. The Hoyas did give the Musketeers a scare on Feb. 3, as the two went to OT before Xavier pulled out a 96-91 win at home. Despite that close call, I expect Xavier to look strong tonight. The Musketeers are 7-2 against the spread on the road this year while Georgetown is just 5-8 ATS at home. The spread isn’t too great, so I suggest jumping on it. COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS: XAVIER -6.5
Seton Hall vs. Providence, 6:30PM ET
Oddsmakers have Providence as a slim favorite at home tonight, as the Friars are getting odds of -1.5 points against Seton Hall. The Pirates won the first meeting this season, at home, 73-57. However, Seton Hall has been a very different team on the road. They are just 3-6 straight up and 3-6 against the spread. That includes losses at Georgetown, Xavier and Creighton. Providence hasn’t been great at the betting window this season, but the Friars are still 12-3 at home. The spread is basically even and I think Providence will grind out the win. COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS: PROVIDENCE -1.5
Seton Hall vs. Providence Series History
DePaul at No. 3 Villanova, 8:30PM ET (FS1)
Villanova is heavily favored in this game, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -20.5 points against DePaul. A spread of that size is always tricky. Nova owns a 103-85 win at DePaul from back on Dec. 27. However, DePaul has covered in three of its last four against Villanova. The Demons don’t offer much in terms of wins and losses, but they have managed to be competitive at the betting window. They have covered in three of their last four on the road, even winning by 17 at Providence. Still, Nova has covered in four of its last five at home with a pair of 20-point wins. Coming off an impressive 16-point win at Xavier, will Villanova be motivated to play hard tonight against a lesser team? The games they have failed to cover in are against the bottom of the Big East like St. John’s and Marquette. I will take the points tonight as I can see Villanova having a bit of an emotional letdown tonight. COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS: DEPAUL +20.5
