BETTING STRATEGIES

Clemson has been somewhat of a surprise in this tournament in how easily the Tigers have advanced. They beat New Mexico State 79-68 to open the tournament and then dominated Auburn in the second round, 84-53. The Tigers covered in both games and are now 19-12 ATS this season, but just 9-9 ATS away from home. Clemson has been about defense, allowing just 65.5 per game this season and only 64.4 over their last five. The offense is putting up 73.8 per game this year.

Kansas is on a five-game win streak right now with victories over Penn (76-60) and Seton Hall (83-79) in the NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks failed to cover the 4.5-point spread in the win over the Pirates. Kansas is now 19-15-1 against the spread and 11-8 ATS away from home. The Jayhawks are averaging 81.4 points per game on offense this season while allowing 70.9 per game.

I still worry about Clemson. The Tigers haven’t been a consistent team this season and are out-manned against this Kansas team. Not having Donte Grantham will catch up with this team eventually and I think that will be tonight. Kansas is a team that can score in bunches and hit from the arc. I don’t think Clemson will be able to match that scoring and I don’t believe its defense will be strong enough to hold the Jayhawks in check.
