North Carolina strong vs. the spread after a loss, faces Notre Dame tonight

No. 2 North Carolina is coming off a loss to Louisville as it gets set to face Notre Dame on the road. Can the Heels rebound against a team that has had their number today at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, North Carolina is favored on the road, as the Tar Heels are getting odds of -3 points against the Fighting Irish. The over/under total for the game has been set at 160.5 points.

North Carolina (19-3, 8-1 ACC) had a 12-game win streak snapped by Louisville in a 71-65 loss on Monday night. The Tar Heels now face Notre Dame (15-7, 6-4 ACC), a team that is coming off a 79-70 loss at Miami on Wednesday night. Notre Dame has had UNC’s number in recent years, as the Irish have won the last two meetings straight up and covered in three straight against the Heels.

Neither team has been great at the betting window this season, as UNC is just 9-12-1 while ND is 8-11-1. However, Roy Williams has done a great job in getting his team to bounce back after a loss while Notre Dame hasn’t shown the same display under Mike Brey. Since 2011, the Tar Heels are 24-12-1 against the spread when coming off a loss, tops of any team in the ACC. In that same time, Notre Dame is just 15-25-3 ATS after a loss, which ranks worst of any team in the conference.
