Buckeyes take down Terrapins
Ohio State earned a 79-72 home victory Sunday afternoon over Maryland to improve to 18-9 overall and 8-8 in Big Ten Conference action. The Buckeyes led 40-33 at halftime and kept control from there. Luther Muhammad paced OSU with 22 points on 5-of-11 shooting including 4-of-8 from 3-point distance plus 8-of-8 at the free throw line. He also registered five rebounds and two assists. Kaleb Wesson tallied 15 points, nine boards, three assists and two steals. Duane Washington Jr. tallied 13 points and four caroms off the bench. Andre Wesson had 12 points, three rebounds and two dimes. C.J. Walker added 12 points and three assists.
Cornhuskers drop 12th straight
Nebraska lost 71-59 Monday night at Illinois to fall to 7-20 overall and 2-14 in conference play. The Cornhuskers trailed 37-31 at halftime and continued to fall behind further after the break. Haanif Cheatham led Nebraska with 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting including 2-of-5 from 3-point range plus 4-of-6 at the charity stripe. He also recorded seven rebounds and two assists. Dachon Burke Jr. accounted for 13 points in 34 minutes of action. Yvan Ouedraogo tallied 11 points, 10 boards and two steals. Thorir Thorbjarnarson added 11 points, seven caroms and two assists.
