Ducks cruise past Hornets
Oregon rolled to a 98-59 home win Sunday over Alabama State in its final tuneup before conference play. The Ducks (11-2, 8-0 home) led by a commanding 48-24 score at halftime on their way to the victory. Chris Duarte paced Oregon with 31 points on 12-of-15 shooting including 6-of-9 from 3-point range plus 1-of-1 at the free throw line. He also tallied six assists and five rebounds. Anthony Mathis contributed 15 points, three dimes and two boards. Addison Patterson recorded 12 points, two caroms and two assists off the bench. Will Richardson added 10 points, six steals, five assists and three rebounds as a reserve.
Buffaloes blast Gaels
Colorado dominated to the tune of 99-54 at home Sunday over Iona to move to 11-2 overall and 6-1 at home. The Buffaloes outscored the Gaels 64-35 in the second half after leading by 16 at the break. D’Shawn Schwartz led a balanced Colorado scoring effort with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting including 4-of-6 from 3-point range plus 2-of-2 at the charity stripe. He also brought down nine rebounds. McKinley Wright IV registered 13 points, 10 assists, two boards and two steals. Evan Battey tallied 12 points, 12 caroms and two assists. Lucas Siewert had 12 points and five rebounds. Tyler Bey accounted for 11 points and five boards. Maddox Daniels recorded 10 points and three dimes. Daylen Kountz added 10 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Oregon
The Ducks are 4-0 ATS in their last four Thursday games. Oregon is 11-1 ATS in its last 12 road games.
Colorado
The Buffaloes are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games as a home underdog. Colorado is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games overall.
Prediction:
The Ducks have had a strong start to their season and have some quality wins on their resume, but I think they run into one here against a Colorado squad that is also battle-tested and will have a loud crowd at its backing for this conference opener. Oregon has only played one road game, a 71-70 overtime win at Michigan, and this will arguably be a tougher challenge considering there is more at play with it being a conference game. Look for the Buffaloes defense to frustrate the Ducks and lead to a strong showing.
