Cook Could Miss Remainder of Season
Mookie Cook is dealing with an aggravation to his surgically repaired foot, which could sideline him for the remainder of the season, Ryan Clarke of The Oregonian reports. Cook missed the first 13 games of the season due to an unrelated ankle injury, but his foot was unable to hold up through game action when he eventually took the court. Cook has not been ruled out for the season, but coach Dana Altman did not express optimism on any return timeline for the four-star freshman. He is out indefinitely.
James Returns to Bench for Trojans
Bronny James is not listed amongst USC’s starters ahead of Saturday’s matchup with UCLA, Shotgun Spratling of 247Sports.com reports. James will retreat to the bench with Boogie Ellis (hamstring) making his return to the starting lineup. The 6-foot-4 freshman has appeared in 11 games this season (three starts), averaging 5.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.8 steals on 19.4 minutes per game. James saw an average of 26.7 minutes across his three starts, but figures to have his role reduced with Ellis back.
