This is a lot of points to lay in a conference game but there’s no good reason to back PSU at this point. The Nittany Lions are 7-9 against the spread as an underdog this season and even as a dog of 15.5 or more, they’re 1-2 ATS on the year. They simply don’t have the firepower to hang with elite opponents inside the conference.
Denzel Valentine and Bryn Forbes are going to be a handful for PSU this afternoon. The duo has averaged 12.9 3-pointers and shot 52.9 percent from beyond the arc over its last seven games. The Spartans also haven’t been shy about running up the score at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center this season, as they’re 6-1 against the spread as a home favorite of 12.5 or more points.
Again, 17.5 is a lot to lay but Michigan State is still the best play on the board in this matchup.
