San Diego State Aztecs Notes
Lamont Butler amassed nine points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Saturday’s 72-71 win over Florida Atlantic. Butler may not have seen a particularly high shooting volume, but it was his last shot that counted most, and it could very well go down as one of the greatest shots in Final Four history. With his team down one point and time about to expire, Butler dribbled to the baseline, cut back, and nailed a midrange jumper as the clock hit zeros. Not much will top this high, but Butler and the Aztecs now have to regroup for a difficult defensive matchup against a UConn team that has looked unbeatable this tournament.
UConn Huskies Notes
Adama Sanogo racked up 21 points (9-11 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-4 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist and two blocks across 26 minutes during Saturday’s 72-59 victory over Miami (FL). Sanogo now has three double-doubles in five NCAA Tournament games, averaging 20.2 points and 9.8 rebounds over that span. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that for the last three games, he’s been fasting in observance of Ramadan, meaning he cannot eat or drink until sundown. That will continue through Monday’s National Title game against San Diego State, though with the game not set to tip until 9:20 p.m. EST, Sanogo should be in the clear for a pregame meal with the sun scheduled to set roughly 40 minutes before the game starts.

San Diego State vs. UConn CBB Prediction:
All due respect to the Aztecs, I just don’t see any team slowing down this UConn train. The Huskies are 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games overall, are 5-0 against the number in their last five neutral site games – all five were NCAA Tournament games – and are 21-7-1 at the betting window in their last 29 games coming off a win. San Diego State is a solid defensive team but the Aztecs can’t match up with UConn’s size, length and backcourt. I see this as a blowout in UConn’s favor.
