Isaiah Hawthorne notched 19 points (7-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, one block and two steals in 30 minutes during Wednesday’s 97-60 victory over Arizona State. Hawthorne has 26 points across his three games started from Dec. 17 to 21. If the Dons continue using a starting lineup including three tall frontcourt members, he is expected to continue starting indefinitely.

Malachi Smith finished with 14 points (4-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), nine rebounds and one steal in 28 minutes during Wednesday’s 104-65 victory over Chicago State. Smith led all players in rebounds as the Bulldogs cruised to one of their easiest victories of the year. While this was a quality performance, Gonzaga’s strength of schedule is about to significantly increase as March wears on. The junior guard will be a key rotation piece as Mark Few’s squad look to avenge their Sweet 16 exit from last season.
