SMU lands Xavier’s Martin
DALLAS, TX (TheSpread) – SMU got some needed help at the forward position this week, landing Xavier transfer Justin Martin.
Martin, a 6-6 forward who started the last three seasons for Xavier, averaged 11.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last season for the Musketeers. He is eligible to play right away at SMU as he earned his bachelor’s degree in this last year.
SMU is coming off a 27-10 record last season under famed coach Larry Brown. Many felt the Mustangs were snubbed for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but they made a run to the NIT Championship game before losing to Minnesota.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, SMU has been given 25/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament next season. Oddsmakers see Kentucky as the favorite with 5/1 odds while Arizona and Duke each have 12/1 odds.
