According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Bearcats are a 1.5-point home favorite over the Mustangs while the over/under is sitting at 133.5 points. Both teams are 7-3 over their last 10 games, but SMU is 6-4 against the spread during that stretch while the Bearcats are 5-5 ATS.

Plenty is at stake for both teams today. The Mustangs are ineligible for the postseason but a victory would clinch at least a share of their second straight league title, as they’re tied for first with temple in the AAC.

The Bearcats, meanwhile, are desperate for a win because they need to bulk up their resume for the NCAA tournament consideration. It’s also senior day at Cincinnati, a moment that helped carried SMU to an 80-54 victory over Connecticut before a sellout crowd at Moody Coliseum on Thursday night.

Public bettors split on which team will cover today between SMU and Cincinnati

The Mustangs already beat the Bearcats 59-57 on January 7 in a game where Cincinnati couldn’t close it out in the end, which has been a theme for them against tough opponents. But SMU also expended a ton of energy and emption on senior night and players like starting guards Nic Moore and Shake Milton have played way too many minutes due to the team only having seven scholarship players on its roster.

Tired, beat up, and a victory on senior night already in their back pocket, SMU will have trouble getting up for Mick Cronin’s desperate Cincinnati team, which is also seeking revenge.
