South Carolina Gamecocks Game Notes

South Carolina forward B.J. Mack led the team in both scoring and rebounds in their matchup against LSU last Saturday. Mack’s 18 points and 9 rebounds weren’t enough to prevent a 64-63 Gamecocks loss. Mack is second on the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game this year.

The only other South Carolina player to reach double figures against LSU on Saturday was freshman forward Collin Murray-Boyles. The Columbia, South Carolina native posted 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals in his team’s defeat.

Ole Miss Rebels Game Notes

Ole Miss guard Matthew Murrell played well in his team’s 83-71 road loss to Mississippi State on Wednesday. In that intra-state showdown, Murrell recorded 23 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Murrell is fifth in the SEC in scoring this year with 17.3 points per game.

Rebels guard Jaylen Murray was also good in his team’s rivalry loss on Wednesday. The 5’11” junior from the Bronx, New York accumulated 12 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and a steal in 37 minutes of game action this past Wednesday. Murray is one of three Ole Miss guards that averages 14 points or more per game in 2023-24.

South Carolina is 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games against Ole Miss.

The over is 14-12 in Ole Miss’s games this season.

The under is 14-11-1 in South Carolina’s games this season.

Ole Miss is 7-2 ATS with the rest disadvantage this season.

South Carolina vs. Ole Miss CBB Prediction:

After winning 7 straight games outright over a span of 3 weeks last month, South Carolina has seemingly begun to falter. The Gamecocks lost at Auburn 101-61 on February 14th, then dropped a winnable home game to LSU last Saturday 64-63. LSU is 14-12 overall and 2-6 on the road this season. Ole Miss will be a tough game for a struggling team like South Carolina.

The Rebels began the season by going 15-1 before losing 6 of their last 10 games. One of those losses came at South Carolina on February 6th. Ole Miss only lost by 3 points in that contest and will have a chance to avenge that defeat on Saturday. The Rebels are more than 6 points better at home than on the road this season when it comes to average scoring margin, and I think that the crowd and the home atmosphere will be enough to make the difference on Saturday. I’m laying the points with Ole Miss at home.

South Carolina vs. Ole Miss CBB Prediction: OLE MISS REBELS -3.5
