Red Storm rolls at Creighton
St. John’s improved to 16-5 overall and 4-5 in the Big East Wednesday night with a convincing 83-67 victory at the Bluejays. The Red Storm led 44-34 at halftime on its way to the win. St. John’s shot 33-of-57 from the floor, 13-of-31 from 3-point distance and 4-of-4 at the free throw line. Shamorie Ponds paced the Red Storm with 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting including 4-of-8 from 3-point distance and 4-of-4 at the free throw line. He also tallied eight rebounds, eight assists and six steals. Mustapha Heron had 17 points and seven boards. LJ Figueroa contributed 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Bryan Trimble Jr. added 11 points, four caroms and two assists off the bench.
Blue Devils dominate Irish
Duke raced to an 83-61 victory Monday night at Notre Dame to move to 18-2 overall and 7-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Blue Devils led 46-28 at halftime and continued to roll after the break. Duke shot 32-of-59 from the field, 10-of-19 on 3-pointers and 9-of-16 at the free throw line. Zion Williamson paced the Blue Devils with 26 points on 10-of-12 shooting including 1-of-1 from 3-point range plus 5-of-9 at the charity stripe. He also notched nine rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots. R.J. Barrett accounted for 17 points and nine boards. Cam Reddish added 13 points, three assists and two steals.
