St. John’s vs. Villanova Pick
Can No. 1 Villanova dominate at home when it plays host to upset-minded St. John’s tonight at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Villanova is favored at home, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -17.5 points against St. John’s. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 149.5 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will air live on the CBS Sports Network.
St. John’s is coming off its very surprising win over Duke this past weekend to snap a long win streak. Still, St. John’s is just 11-13 overall, 0-11 in the Big East and 10-12 against the spread. The Red Storm are averaging 72.7 points per game on offense while allowing 72.4 per contest. Shamorie Ponds is leading the team with 20.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. Bashir Ahmed is adding 11.9 points per game.
Villanova has won nine straight games coming into tonight. That includes a 92-76 win over Seton Hall this past weekend. The Wildcats are now 22-1 overall, 9-1 in the Big East and 16-7 against the spread. Nova is putting up 88.4 points per game this season while allowing just 69.8 per contest. Jalen Brunson is leading Villanova with 19.4 points and five assists per game. Mikal Bridges is adding 16.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest.
Bet on St. John’s vs. Villanova
Villanova has won 10 straight meetings in this series, including a 78-71 win at St. John’s on Jan 13. The Red Storm managed to cover in that game, but I don’t see it happening tonight. Nova has been very good at home, winning their last four by at least 16 points. St. John’s is coming off a big win, but I see that just leading to a letdown tonight when Villanova starts quickly. The public betting is strongly with Villanova tonight as well.
