Ejiofor posts seventh double-double vs. Marquette
Zuby Ejiofor ended Tuesday’s 70-64 win over Marquette with 13 points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 7-11 FT), 13 rebounds and one assist over 35 minutes. Ejiofor came up big on both sides of the ball in the win over the Golden Eagles. He supplied his seventh double-double of the season in the six-point win. The 6-foot-9 junior has been a huge proponent of the Red Storm’s Big East dominance this season. He has been especially a force in the paint. He’s averaging 14.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.7 blocks on 30.7 minutes per game across 23 games this season.
Diarra limited in practice
Head coach Dan Hurley indicated that Hassan Diarra (undisclosed) has been limited in practice and will be a game-time decision ahead of Friday’s matchup against St. John’s, per Joe Arruda of the Hartford Courant. The details and severity of Diarra’s issue are currently unknown. However, it appears significant enough to put him in danger of missing his first game of the season. The 6-foot-2 guard has been an impact player for the Huskies this season. He is averaging 8.6 points and 6.4 assists per game through 22 contests. With fellow guard Aidan Mahaney also questionable, Solo Ball could take command of the offense. This is in case both Mahaney and Diarra are out or limited.
St. John’s vs. UConn CBB Prediction:
Take UConn. The Huskies have won four straight games against the Red Storm and are 7-3 in their last 10 games versus St. John’s overall. UConn has also won seven out of its last 10 games overall, which includes a 77-69 win at Marquette as a 7-point underdog. Granted, the Red Storm have won nine straight games overall. However, this game won’t be played at Madison Square Garden. I’ll take the home team.
