Syracuse vs. Notre Dame College Basketball Predictions 1/21/17

Syracuse vs. Notre Dame Pick

Is No. 15 Notre Dame a good bet to cash against Syracuse today at 12:00PM ET following its loss to FSU?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Fighting Irish are 8-point home favorites versus the Orange after opening as a 9.5-point favorite. The over/under, meanwhile, is sitting at 146 after opening at that same number.

Syracuse is 0-3 on the road in ACC play but for one reason or another, has played well against Notre Dame. The last three games between these two teams have been decided by an average of 8.6 points, but none were really that close. A year ago the Orange led by as many as 24. Notre Dame seniors V.J. Beachem and Steve Vasturia are 0-3 against the Orange, who have won seven of the last eight in the series.

On Wednesday Notre Dame had its seven-game win streak snapped by No. 10 Florida State, although the Fighting Irish covered as a 6-point road underdog. The Irish trailed by as many as eight, but still put themselves in position to win in the closing minutes before eventaully falling by three points.

OUR PREDICTION: Despite Syracuse’s success versus Notre Dame, I like the Fighting Irish to roll today. The Orange is 0-5 against the spread in its last five road games, is 0-4 in its last four games as a road underdog, and is 0-5 at the betting window in its last five road games versus a team with a winning home record. On the other side, the Fighting Irish are 5-0-1 against the spread in their last six games overall, are 7-1-1 against the number in their last nine games as a favorite, and have cashed in 13 of their last 18 home games.
