Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh – 3/9/16 ACC Tournament Picks & Predictions

Can Pitt beat Syracuse for a third time?

Both Pittsburgh and Syracuse need a win when the two meet today at Noon ET in the ACC Tournament.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Pittsburgh is a slim favorite in today’s game, as the Panthers are getting odds of -2 points against Syracuse. The over/under total for the game has been set at 133 points. These two meet in the second round of the ACC Tournament, which takes place from the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.

Pittsburgh is 20-10 overall, 9-9 in ACC games, 2-0 on a neutral floor and 12-15 against the spread. Syracuse is 19-12 overall, 9-9 in the ACC, 3-1 on a neutral floor and 15-15 against the spread. Pittsburgh won both meetings this season and has won and covered in four straight over Syracuse over the last two seasons.

Who does the public like in this game?

Pittsburgh seems to have Syracuse’s number. The Panthers had a 66-52 win at Syracuse on Feb. 20 and a 72-61 win at home on Dec. 30. Yet, Pitt is just a 2-point favorite today. Beating a team three times isn’t easy, but Pitt dominated the rebounding against Syracuse this year by an 82-42 margin over the two games. That’s not just going to magically change in this contest. Neither team comes in playing really well, but Syracuse just doesn’t seem to have an answer for Pitt’s ability in the paint and that should continue to plague them today.
