Tennessee Volunteers

The Vols got blown out Tuesday night 73-43 against the Florida Gators for their first loss of the season. Zakai Zeigier and Chaz Lanier both led the team in scoring with 10 points. Tennessee finished 4 of 29 from three in this matchup and shot 21% from the field. On top of that they also only made 15 of 25 foul shots. Tennessee has beaten a ranked Arkansas squad 76-52 and a ranked Baylor team 77-62 this season.

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns have struggled for two straight losses to kick off SEC play. First was a 80-60 loss at Texas A&M and on Tuesday night they fell 87-82 to the 2nd ranked Auburn Tigers. Arthur Kaluma went off for a career high 34 points. The forward was 12-16 from the field and 5-6 from behind the 3 point arc. Jordan Pope added 19 points, including a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line. The Longhorns also lost to UConn 76-65 and Ohio State 80-72 to start the season.

Tennessee is 1-3 ATS in their last 4 games

The UNDER is 8-2 in Tennessee’s last 10 games

Texas is 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games

The OVER is 4-2 in Texas’ last 6 games

Tennessee vs. Texas Prediction:

Take the Vols to bounce back and pick up a big win on the road on Saturday evening. Tennessee got embarrassed by Florida in their last game in which they totaled just 43 points and made 12 shots all game. They’ll look to get back on track against a Longhorns team that has allowed 83.5 points in each of their last two games. Texas hung in there against Auburn in their last game only losing by 5, however Arthur Kaluma, who averages 15.1 points per game, went off for a career high. It is unlikely we see a repeat performance against a Vols defense that ranks 2nd in the country allowing just 57.1 points per game. I think Tennessee gets back on track against a team that has struggled against good competition this season.

Tennessee vs. Texas Prediction: Tennessee -6.5
