Public Betting: Public Bettors Leaning Cougars

As of this writing, our CBB Public Betting page shows that 63% of bets are on Houston. That said, this page is updated frequently so make sure that you click on the link provided so that you’re getting the most updated information.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Red Raiders last played on Wednesday night, where they hosted the TCU Horned Frogs and defeated them 71-57. JT Toppin led the team with 18 points and 14 rebounds, including a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. Chance McMillian added 16 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field. TCU was held to 35% shooting and 27% from 3 point range. Texas Tech’s last loss came against Iowa State 85-84.

Houston Cougars

The Houston Cougars followed up their victory over Kansas with a 63-49 win over West Virginia. L.J. Cryer led the team with 17 points on 50% shooting from the field. Joseph Tugler added 12 and 7 rebounds. West Virginia’s top scorer Javon Small managed just 8 points. Their last loss came against San Diego State 73-70.

Texas Tech is 3-1 ATS in their last 4 games

The UNDER is 4-1 in Texas Tech’s last 5 games

Houston is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games

The UNDER is 4-1 in Houston’s last 5 games

Texas Tech vs. Houston Prediction:

I’m going to fade the above trends and take a shot at the over here. One trend that I like is that the over is 3-0 in Houston’s matchups against ranked opponents this season. Auburn scored 74 points, Alabama scored 85 points, and Kansas just last week scored 86 points with 66 coming in regulation. Texas Tech ranks 26th in points per game and 4th in offensive efficiency. The Cougars aren’t too far behind ranking 18th in offensive efficiency. The Red Raiders defense gives up 64.7 points per game on the season but 69.1 on the road compared to 62.2 on their home floor. I think both teams will do enough to hit this low total.

Texas Tech vs. Houston Prediction: Over 128.5
