Texas Longhorns DFS Spin
Sir’Jabari Rice racked up 18 points (4-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 8-10 FT), two rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals over 29 minutes during Saturday’s 72-70 win over Texas Tech. Rice logged his sixth double-digit scoring performance of the season, finishing with the Longhorns’ second-most points behind starting shooting guard Marcus Carr (20) on Saturday. The reserve guard opened the season in a minimal role after transferring from New Mexico State this offseason. However, he’s now averaged 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals while playing 23.6 minutes across the last five games in conference play. Rice has also converted 90.3 percent of his 6.2 free-throw tries per game during this span. These solid returns will likely continue to net him an increased role behind Carr and starting point guard Tyrese Hunter moving forward.
Iowa State Cyclones DFS Spin
Gabe Kalscheur registered 23 points (7-16 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds and one steal across 38 minutes during Saturday’s 62-60 loss to Kansas. Kalscheur has been on a scoring tear since stepping back up into a starting role over six of the last seven games. Over this span, the fifth-year guard has averaged 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals while playing 35.6 minutes per game. He’s also converting 51.7 percent of his 12.4 field-goal attempts as well as 45.5 percent of his 6.3 tries from beyond the arc. Kalscheur has always provided consistent production on the defensive end, though he’s now averaged a career-high 12.5 points this season as a result of his increased role. It’s unlikely Kalscheur will be able to maintain this jump-up in efficiency, though he may need to in order for Iowa State to come away with a win against Texas on Tuesday.
