Troy vs. Kentucky Pick
Will No. 7 Kentucky make quick work of Troy when the two teams meet up tonight at 8PM ET in the Adolph Rupp Classic.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Kentucky is the favorite in this game, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -19 points against Troy. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 145 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky and will air live on the SEC Network.
Kentucky has been busy, already playing in four games. The Wildcats are 3-1 on the season and have one loss, 65-61 to Kansas last week. Kentucky is just 1-3 against the spread, covering in the lone loss. The Wildcats are scoring just 71.2 points per game while allowing 64.5 per contest. Kentucky is led by Kevin Knox, who is averaging 15 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while Hamidou Diallo is posting 13.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest.
Troy is off to a 2-2 start this season, losing to Hawaii in OT and to North Dakota. The Trojans are 1-2 against the spread, failing to cover in their two losses. Troy is averaging 76 points per game this season while allowing 70.7 per contest. The Trojans are being led by Jordon Varnado, who is averaging 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Wesley Person is adding 17 points per contest.
These two have no recent meetings to consider for tonight’s clash. Kentucky has been playing to the level of its competition thus far in the season, which isn’t surprising for such a young team. Kentucky is just 1-4-1 ATS in its last 6 at home and 2-6-2 ATS in its last 10 non-conference games. Troy has covered in 14 of its last 20 road games and I think the Trojans will be able to take advantage of some of the mistakes this young Kentucky team will make. The public betting is slightly with Kentucky today, but I am going to take Troy and the points.
