UCLA Player Spotlight
Chris Smith had 17 points (7-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds and three steals across 31 minutes in Sunday’s 50-40 win over California. Smith has made the most of his opportunity in the starting lineup in his past six games, averaging 14.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and two assists across 29 minutes per game over that span. The junior has been a major contributor for the Bruins this season, racking up a 23.8 percent usage rate to go along with taking 23.9 percent of shots while on the floor. Smith’s surge of late definitely warrants a look in Pac-12 formats.
Oregon State Player Spotlight
Tres Tinkle compiled 20 points (6-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), seven assists, six rebounds and three steals across 38 minutes Sunday in Oregon State’s 82-65 win over Arizona. Though Oregon State and Arizona were tied at 31 at the intermission, the senior forward’s stellar all-around outing helped the Beavers pull away in the second half. Tinkle moved into third on Oregon State’s career scoring list with the 20-point outing and has now reached double figures in 81 consecutive games, which marks the second-longest streak in program history.
