UConn Game Notes
UConn’s best guard is sophomore Jordan Hawkins. The Gaithersburg, Maryland native is second on the team in scoring with 16.5 points per game and first on the team in three-pointers made with 76 this season. Hawkins is also contributing 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for the Huskies this year.
UConn’s best big man is 6’9” junior forward Adama Sanogo. Sanogo leads the team in scoring (16.8 points per game) and rebounding (7.2 boards per game) while shooting an efficient 58.8% from the field during the campaign.
St. John’s Game Notes
St. John’s guard Montez Mathis injured his toe in early January and he’ll miss the rest of the season. Mathis had been averaging 9.6 points per game in 27.2 minutes per contest for the Red Storm this season.
The Red Storm’s best big man is senior center Joel Soriano. The Yonkers, NY native is fourth in the country in rebounding with 11.9 boards per game. Soriano can also score efficiently, as he’s putting up 15.4 points per game while shooting 57% from the floor this year. The matchup between Joel Soriano and Adama Sanogo is one to watch in this contest.

UConn vs. St. John’s CBB Prediction:
I think this line is inflated due to UConn’s last result. The Huskies beat #20 Providence by 18 points on Wednesday, easily covering the 7.5-point spread in that contest. UConn dominated that game on the glass, outrebounding Providence 40-20. I don’t see that happening on Saturday against St. John’s. The Red Storm have Joel Soriano, a 6’11” 260-pound center who is fourth in the country in rebounding with 11.9 per game this season. I think Soriano prevents UConn’s Adama Sanogo from having a huge game, and the Johnnies keep it close enough to cover the number on Saturday.
CBB BETTING PREDICTION: ST. JOHN’S RED STORM +7.5
