Boakye continues to struggle offensively
Enoch Boakye racked up four points (2-4 FG), nine rebounds and one block in 28 minutes during Tuesday’s 69-63 loss to Xavier. While the senior and two-time transfer has started every game for Villanova this season, his offensive output has been virtually non-existent, as Boakye has yet to attempt more than five field goals in a single game this season, and that was all the way back in the opener. That comes as little surprise given he plays alongside the nation’s leading scorer in Eric Dixon (24.8 ppg), who dominates the offensive touches.
Mitchell has tough shooting day for Eagles
Stevie Mitchell amassed seven points (2-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist and four steals across 27 minutes during Saturday’s 59-57 loss to Xavier. It was a tough shooting day for Mitchell and the entire Marquette squad — a unit that posted a season-low scoring total resulting in its first Big East loss. Even with a couple of down scoring games for Mitchell, he continues to produce in ancillary categories to keep his fantasy floor high. For example, his four steals Thursday built on a Big East-leading 2.6 spg season average. Mitchell and the Golden Eagles next head to Seton Hall on Tuesday, representing a strong bounce-back opportunity given the Pirates are one of the softer defenses in the conference.
