Villanova vs. Temple Trends
No. 1 Villanova steps out of Big East play today to AAC leader Temple on the road. What do the trends say about this non-conference clash?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, top-ranked Villanova is an 8-point favorite on the road tonight against Temple. The over/under total for the contest is currently listed at 133.5 points. These two Big East foes meet tonight at 7PM ET on ESPN2.
Villanova (22-3, 12-1 Big East) holds a two-game lead in the conference on Xavier and 4.5-game lead or better on the rest of the field. The Wildcats are on a five-game win streak that has saw them cover in three of their last four games. Temple (16-8, 10-3 AAC) is the current leader in the AAC thanks to a five-game win streak of their own where they have went just 2-3 ATS in that span.
The Owls are 13-9 against the spread this season, which isn’t bad, but they really shine as an underdog. Temple is 8-2 against the spread as an underdog in the 2015-16 season, which is one of the best odds records in the country right now. The Owls have covered in six straight as an underdog, facing the likes Connecticut, SMU, Cincinnati and Memphis. Villanova has to defend its top ranking, but with this not being a Big East contest, the Wildcats may not look to press themselves too hard in this game. Temple, on the other hand, could use this signature win to boost their March Madness resume, so look for the Owls to give Villanova their best shot.
