West Virginia vs. Iowa State Pick

Can No. 15 West Virginia go on the road and pick up a double-digit win over Iowa State when the two meet up tonight at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, West Virginia is favored on the road, as the Mountaineers are getting odds of -9.5 points against Iowa State. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 148 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa and will air live on ESPNU.

West Virginia is in a bit of a funk, losing four of their last five, including an 83-76 decision against Kentucky at home this past weekend. WVU is 16-5 overall, 5-3 in the Big 12 and 8-9 against the spread. West Virginia is averaging 80.8 points per game this season while allowing 66.6 per contest. Jevon Carter is averaging 17.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game to lead the Mountaineers while Daxter Miles Jr. is adding 12.8 points per game. Miles is dealing with an illness that has him questionable for this game.

Iowa State has lost three of its last four and seven of their last nine coming into tonight. The Cyclones suffered a 68-45 loss at home to Tennessee this weekend. ISU is 11-9 overall, 2-6 in the Big 12 and 6-11-1 against the spread. Iowa State is scoring 73 points per game this year while allowing 73 per game on defense. Lindell Wigginton is leading Iowa State with 15.9 points per game while Donovan Jackson is adding 15.4 points per contest.

Bet on West Virginia vs. Iowa State

West Virginia has won four of its last five meetings with Iowa State, covering the spread in all four wins. The Mountaineers have dropped their last two on the road to TCU and Texas Tech. However, they have managed to cover in two of their last three after a loss. Iowa State has been a different team at home, but the Cyclones are coming off a 23-point loss at home to Tennessee. WVU has a defense that should be able to lock down on the ISU offense. Their press pressure should lead to some transition offense as well. The public betting is nearly split on this game, but I will take my chances on the Mountaineers.
