CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -Clemson’s James Mays withdrew from the NBA draft Thursday to return to school for his senior season.
Mays never hired an agent, allowing him to participate in the pre-draft camp last week without losing his eligibility.
“I am glad that I went through this process, but feel coming back will give me a chance to continue to develop as a player, and enhance my draft status for next year,” Mays said.
The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 12.2 points and 6.4 rebounds as a junior last season. He missed the second half of his sophomore season because he was academically ineligible.
Clemson returns four starters, including Mays, from a 25-11 team that lost in the NIT championship game and started the season with a 17-game winning streak.
