BALTIMORE (AP) – Taariq Cephas and Shomari Triggs scored 15 points apiece and Coppin State crushed Division II Goldey-Beacom 103-50 on Monday.
The pair combined to shoot 12 of 17 from the floor as Coppin State (1-4) shot 51 percent, including 15 of 33 from beyond the arc. Arnold Fripp added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles.
Goldey-Beacom (2-4) was led by Chris Gebhart and Parris Ridgeway-Higgs with 10 points apiece. Gebhart had eight boards. The Lightning made just 31 percent from the floor and went 1 of 12 on 3-pointers.
The Lightning actually led 20-19 with 8:47 left in the first half, but Coppin State closed the half on a 26-10 run and never looked back, scoring 58 points after the break to GBC’s 20.
