HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -Terrance Carter scored 20 points and James Madison handed Mount St. Mary’s its third loss of the season, winning 85-73 Saturday.
The Dukes (3-1) traded baskets with the Mount (0-3) for much of the first half. A three-pointer by Jeremy Goode pulled Mount St. Mary’s into the lead 18-16, but was answered by a pair of free throws from Dazzmond Thornton.
James Madison’s Abdulai Jalloh added two of his 18 points to tie the score 20-20, the first of a game total nine ties.
Heiden Ratner added two to push the Dukes ahead 40-38 going into the half.
Jalloh set the pace for the second half with a three-pointer early, and the Dukes kept the Mount no closer than five points.
Juwann James scored 15 points for the Dukes.
Goode had 27 points.
