OXFORD, Ohio (AP) – Miami of Ohio coach Charlie Coles is in the hospital following an unspecified heart procedure.
The 66-year-old Coles stepped away from coaching earlier this month because of stomach pains and had undergone tests. Coles has a history of heart problems.
Assistant Jermaine Henderson took over for Coles for the final three games of the regular season. The RedHawks play Buffalo in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament in Cleveland on Wednesday night.
Mercy Hospital in Fairfield declined to release a condition report following the procedure Tuesday night.
Coles had bypass surgery in 1986 and went into cardiac arrest at the MAC tournament in 1998.
